Cambridge, Massachusetts. October 19, 2008.
The trouble with photographing gargantuan events such as the Head of the Charles is that it's difficult to find a singular Something happening to cover comprehensively. There's so much happening at these things: boats crashing, people screaming, dogs barking, half a dozen announcers, ducks flapping, bread frying, jewelry selling, and there I was - completely frozen. Snapping pictures haphazardly, turning in every direction, trying to capture everything rather than filtering out what I wanted to focus on. Pun intended.
A shy photographer's nightmare, to say the least.
Lesson learned.
