Failure #1398120938120917097

The Head of the Charles Rowing Regatta. The largest rowing regatta in the world. Competitors from around the globe, thousands of spectators, hundreds of vendors, and two beautiful days in Boston.

I took 451 photographs.

No story.

ISO 400, f/4.0, 200mm, 1/4000 sec
Cambridge, Massachusetts. October 19, 2008.

The trouble with photographing gargantuan events such as the Head of the Charles is that it's difficult to find a singular Something happening to cover comprehensively. There's so much happening at these things: boats crashing, people screaming, dogs barking, half a dozen announcers, ducks flapping, bread frying, jewelry selling, and there I was - completely frozen. Snapping pictures haphazardly, turning in every direction, trying to capture everything rather than filtering out what I wanted to focus on. Pun intended.

A shy photographer's nightmare, to say the least.

Lesson learned.

Great pictures Mimi. I have been reading your and Andrew's blog almost everyday when I'm at the computer.
