Racing Down the Charles

Dragon Boats!  It's neat.  You should try it.  They're surprisingly intense.  One of the paddlers ended up being from my hometown back in Hawai'i.

Most of my photographs are silhouettes or bathed in orange light because the sun was setting the moment I got to Science Park.

It's the best light a photographer could ask for, but it soon got dark and I couldn't do much because I didn't want to use my flash (which would undoubtedly fuck with the paddlers), and so I experimented with some slow-shutter shots.  The experimentation wasn't a great success, though, because trying to hold my camera remotely still in order to capture JUST the paddlers in motion proved to be difficult - the boat was rocking back and forth and I just couldn't get the right shot.

Despite being a water creature for close to my entire life, I still felt queasy by the end of practice.  But it was worth it.  I think I got some decent shots.

What what in the butt.

San Beda College baby. Dragon boat racing team '96 (actually I don't know the year)! You gotta send these pics to those guys in Manila. They'd be stoked to see their sport *making waves* all the way in Boston.
